UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan established a new AI and advanced technology council in Abu Dhabi to shape the future of AI policies and investment strategies.

The council aims to develop AI and advanced technology policies to transform the emirate into an investment and expertise hub. Tahnoun bin Zayed will serve as chairman, and Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed as vice chairman, with a focus on the UAE AI Strategy. The UAE implemented a National AI Strategy in 2019 with the goal of becoming a global leader in AI by 2031.

Various initiatives in the UAE are integrating AI into different sectors, including the creation of the first AI-powered space technology business by Yahsat and Bayanat. Another collaboration between Quris-AI and MBZUAI aims to establish a Bio-AI facility, eliminating animal testing and aiding in the development of personalized drugs for the region.

Unexpectedly, the application of generative AI in the workplace could exacerbate racial wealth disparity, according to studies. It could increase the wealth gap between white and black households in the US by $43 billion by 2045.
